BMW-Sauber have this morning confirmed that their drivers for 2009 will be Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, ending months of speculation linking Fernando Alonso, and Nico Rosberg, to drives with the team.
Mario Theissen, team boss, said:
"We see Nick and Robert as a strong driver pairing and Christian as an experienced test driver. We are in no doubt that we will again achieve our ambitious aims with them in the team's fourth year."
The team have also confirmed that Christian Klien will continue as test and reserve driver.
The announcement will spark further speculation as to the whereabouts of Alonso next year, with the likelihood of the Spaniard remaining at Renault – for whom he won in Singapore last time out – becoming greater by the day.
