GP2 Testing: Shanghai 09/10/2008
Kobayashi quickest again

One week before the opening of the second season of the GP2 Asia Series, Toyota ace Kamui Kobayashi is definitely putting pressure on his rivals setting once more the fastest laptime of the day in a 1:45.203. His teammate Jérôme d’Ambrosio finished fourth in a 1:46.242 this afternoon proving that the French team Dams might just be the team to beat.

One man who could stop Kobayashi on his way to the win is Roldan Rodriguez on Piquet GP: he was the only man along with the Japanese to go under 1:46. Sakon Yamamoto at the wheel of the ART car was third fastest of the day in a 1:46.071 very closely followed by Durango’s Valsecchi whose morning’s mechanical issues seemed to have been fully resolved. Belgian d’Ambrosio was fourth quickest while iSport’s rookie Van der Garde keeps on impressing ahead of Javier Villa on super Nova, Vitaly Petrov on Campos and another rookie Luiz Razia - who missed yesterday’s session - on the second Super Nova car. The experienced Andreas Zuber on FMS rounds up the Top 10.

This marks the end of the two-day test session. The second season of the GP2 Asia Series Championship will open on Friday, October 16th with Free Practice at 10am, local time.
