Australian Will Power will start from pole in the final IndyCar race of the season at Surfers' Paradise. Power, on top of the time tables all weekend, delivered a blistering lap in the final 10-minute shootout to claim his third Surfers' pole in a row.
Series champion Scott Dixon (Ganassi) joins the KV Racing driver on the front row, with Penske's Ryan Briscoe completing an all-Oceanic top-three. Former champion and returnee Dario Franchitti will start from fourth for Ganassi. Ryan Hunter-Reay (Rahal-Letterman) and Helio Castroneves (Penske) completed the Firestone Fast Six shootout.
Saturday qualifying started off in the wet, upsetting some of practice's leading drivers. Justin Wilson (P9) , Graham Rahal (P13) and Oriol Servia (P15) were among the drivers who couldn't live up to their practice results. Danica Patrick crashed out and will start from the back row.
