Alonso in the mix
Renault top McLaren

Final practice for the Brazilian grand prix produced another trademark last minute flyer from Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard getting the Renault wound up to take fastest in a little over 1:12 and head the Mclaren pairing of Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen by the merest of fractions.

Ferrari appeared to playing a waiting game with Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen seemingly uninterested in fast times, a situation echoed at BMW where Nick Heidfeld emerged faster than Robert Kubica.

Red Bull and Toro Rosso again features, with Sebastian Vettel, Sebastien Bourdais and Mark Webber all in the top ten, and the entire field covered by just one and a half seconds.

The weather promises to play a part in qualifying – taking part shortly at Interlagos – as rain ahs never been far away all weekend, meaning that timing could be the be all and end all in what is shaping up to be a fascinating session.
