Nov.29 (GMM) Mark Webber on Saturday was transferred from the Tasmanian capital Hobart to a hospital in Melbourne.
The Australian formula one driver broke his leg in a cycling crash a week ago, and immediately underwent surgery.
Accompanied by a doctor and nurse, he was flown by air ambulance to Melbourne on Saturday, to begin rehabilitation in a private hospital in Kew, a surburb about 20 minutes north of Melbourne.
He was photographed wearing a 'ski-boot'-style splint on his lower right leg.
"I'm now looking forward to getting on to the next phase of my recovery over the next few weeks," he is quoted as saying by the local Daily Telegraph newspaper.
When he is given the green light by doctors, Webber will return to Europe, where in Austria he will begin a physiotherapy programme being devised by his employers Red Bull.
He aims to be at the wheel of the team's new RB5 single seater in February.
