Jan.9 (GMM) Toro Rosso on Friday finally confirmed that the 20-year-old Swiss rookie Sebastien Buemi will make his formula one debut with the Red Bull-owned team in 2009.
Team boss Franz Tost said the appointment was made because engineers are impressed with his speed and ability during testing, but also because it "meets Dietrich Mateschitz's intention to use Scuderia Toro Rosso as a showcase for young drivers the company has supported in the lower formulae".
Buemi's teammate will be finalised before late March's season opening Australian grand prix, the Faenza based team also said in a statement.
