Jan.15 (GMM) Toyota's F1 engine boss Luca Marmorini has left the team, it emerged on the day of the launch of the new TF109 racer.
"He has chosen to leave the team," the Cologne based squad confirmed on Thursday, thanking him for his contribution to the 2009 machine, and its KERS system.
Interestingly, Toyota does not intend to use the energy-reuse technology at the beginning of the season, despite team driver Jarno Trulli insisting the launch car has a KERS installed.
"Soon we'll run it but we don't know if we will start the season with it or not," the Italian told the UK broadcaster BBC.
Toyota promoted Kazuo Takeuchi from within to replace Marmorini, who had joined Toyota for the beginning of the marque's F1 project from Ferrari at the end of last decade.
On the brighter side, Toyota said title sponsor Panasonic has renewed its contract through 2012.
