Conditions at the Portimao circuit where five teams are testing have become so bad today (Thursday) that all running has been curtailed.
The morning session was red flagged after just over half an hour when torrential rain rendered it impossible for the medical helicopters to fly, and it is a condition of tests that they must be able to do so.
STR and Williams, Renault, Toyota and Mclaren are all present on the final day of the test, and as yet there is no word as to whether the circuit will re-open should conditions ease.
The troubled test – each of the four days has been hit by rain – comes ahead of a season in which no testing will be permitted in-season, creating added frustration over lost track time. There have been instances in the past where tests have been extended in such cases, but it is unclear whether this will be allowed to happen.
