The last three-day test session of the 2009 GP2 Series season resumed today at the Catalunya circuit in Spain.
On a sunny track, it was Portuguese Alvaro Parente who signed both fastest lap times in the morning and the afternoon session, with a quickest time in a 1:26.948 clocked in this morning. The Ocean Racing driver claimed his first GP2 win on that same track during the opening round of the 2008 season last April.
Close behind Parente, Lucas di Grassi
demonstrated once more the competitiveness of his Fat Burner Racing Engineering machine. The Brazilian signed a lap time of a 1:26.980 this morning, ahead of Davide Valsecchi at Durango. The Italian sophomore was then followed by rookies Nico Hulkenberg at ART and Giedo Van der Garde at iSport.
Karun Chandhok on the second Ocean Racing car was pleased to sign the sixth best time of the day, ahead of rookie and local hero Dani Clos at Racing Engineering, veteran Pastor Maldonado on the second ART and Belgian Jérôme D’Ambrosio at Dams.
Luca Fillippi at the wheel of his Super Nova car completed the Top 10 of the day.
This morning, eighteen drivers finished within the same second.
Tomorrow’s morning session will start at 9am, local time.
