News from Paris states that the courts have rejected the Ferrari case for an injunction against the implementation of the controversial 2010 rules.
The decision has been taken on the grounds that Ferrari does not have a valid reason to block the plans, and also taken into account was the veto Ferrari had been previously granted by the FIA, the court agreeing that such a veto was no longer valid.
The ruling throws the future of the legendary marque’s participation in Formula One – as well as that of Toyota, Renault and the two Red Bull teams – into doubt as all have stated they will not be entering should the £40m optional budget cap be enforced.
Despite the insistence of Bernie Ecclestone that the ‘two tier’ system was now ‘dead in the water’ the FIA insist that as things stand the 2010 regulations remain as published.
We await comment from Ferrari and from other teams in due course.
