WSR: Round 3 - Monaco
Rookie Brit takes win

Round three of the World Series by Renault championship was held under the watchful glare of the Formula One paddock, as it joined the GP2 series as a Formula One support race.

Marcos Martinez is dominating the series so far with forty seven points for Pons, Bertrand Baguette is second for Draco with James Walker if P1 in third.

Last year's British Formula Three runner up, and Update F1 Star of Tomorrow, Oliver Turvey of Carlin Motorsport impressed the watching Formula One bosses by taking pole position. Walker joins him to complete an all British front row, with Adrian Zaugg of Interwetten and Martinez lining up on the second row of the grid.

Turvey did even more to impress the F1 bosses by putting in a flawless performance around the streets to claim his first World Series by Renault victory.

Zaugg finished second after jumping Walker on the start line. Zaugg put Turvey under pressure for most of the race eventually finishing just six tenths of a second behind the Briton, while Walker dropped back and settled for third in the closing laps.

Championship leader Martinez was fourth but he was forced into retirement giving fourth to Miguel Molina of Ultimate followed by his six car train. Baguette was behind in fifth; Pasquale di Sabatino should have been sixth but his RC Motorsport ground to a halt gifting sixth to the next man in the train - Jaime Alguersuari of Carlin, who came up from tenth on the grid.

Alguersuari jumped the Epsilon cars of Chris Van Der Drift and Adrian Valles on the first lap and they could do nothing to get past him again eventually finishing seventh and eighth. Charles Pic was ninth for Tech 1, with Stefano Coletti completing the train and the top ten on a guest appearance for Prema Powerteam.

Due to time restrictions there was only one race in Monte Carlo, and despite his non finish Martinez still leads the championship he stays on forty seven points.
