Webber to have surgery
Screws to be removed

Jun.22 (GMM) Nico Rosberg is heading to Ibiza, while championship leader Jenson Button will spend some of F1's rare three-week break before the next race holidaying with his girlfriend in Tokyo.

Australia's Mark Webber, however, is taking the opportunity to have some surgery, following his winter cycling accident.

"I'm having the two locking screws at the bottom of my right shin taken out," the Red Bull driver said after finishing second in Sunday's British grand prix.

Webber, 32, said the main titanium rod is staying put.

"The bone has recovered sufficiently for the screws to be removed, which is great news. It's not a big operation, just a local anaesthetic," he explained.

Afterwards, however, he has scheduled some rest and relaxation prior to the German grand prix in mid July, starting with taking in the British Speedway action in Cardiff next Saturday.

The next day, he will be trackside at Donington Park for the British round of World Superbikes.

"I've ridden bikes for longer than I've raced cars, so I'm really looking forward to it," said Webber.
