Oct.2 (GMM) Timo Glock will sit out the initial practice sessions at Suzuka because he is not feeling well, the Japanese team announced on Friday morning.
Even though it was Jarno Trulli suffering from a fever earlier this week, the Cologne based team said German Glock, 27, "has been advised to rest by the team doctor" with a "very heavy cold and fever".
However, some sources in the paddock expressed cynicism at the move, observing that while Glock was occasionally coughing during interviews on Thursday, he did not appear to be overly unwell.
Reserve driver and Japanese local Kamui Kobayashi, 23, will replace him, but Toyota said Glock is scheduled to return to the cockpit for qualifying and the race.
Kobayashi finished the 2009 GP2 main series in seventeenth place.
The Suzuka circuit was wet when the initial 90 minute session commenced at 10.30am local on Friday.
