Dec.14 (GMM) Lotus on Monday announced that 2009 formula one drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will race for the new Malaysian-owned team next season.
Kuala Lumpur-born Fairuz Fauzy was named as the reserve driver at a press conference at the parliament building involving the Malaysian sports minister.
Italian veteran Trulli's involvement had been strongly speculated, but the likelihood of a deal with Kovalainen only became clear with a recent report in Turun Sanomat.
The Finnish newspaper said Trulli and 28-year-old Kovalainen, who have each won a single career grand prix, will both be paid.
With his manager Flavio Briatore banned from any involvement in F1, 2009 McLaren driver Kovalainen's deal was reportedly informally handled by Aces Management, headed by Didier Coton.
"Experience is the most important thing for us, because it's a value you can't buy," said Lotus team boss Tony Fernandes, according to 422race.com.
