Dec.17 (GMM) Michael Schumacher may take part in a test prior to making his decision to return to formula one with Mercedes GP in 2010.
Bild newspaper reports that the session could take place in Abu Dhabi, whose Aabar investments company owns 30 per cent of the Brackley based team.
The single seater at the 40-year-old's disposal could be a GP2 car, due to the fact that Mercedes GP does not possess a running two-year-old car.
A precedent for tests within the current restrictions with two-year-old F1 cars fitted with demonstration tyres has been set by Ferrari, but a two-year-old Mercedes GP would be a Honda, which could not accommodate the team's current V8 engine.
Said Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche in Abu Dhabi this week: "We have signed an excellent driver in Nico Rosberg, and at the beginning of the new year we will know who is the second driver."
