Sutil gets suspended sentence
18 monhts and €200,000 fine

Adrian Sutil has been fined €200,000 and given an 18 month suspended sentence after being found guilty of bodily harm in his case against Lotus co-owner Eric Lux.

Sutil is alleged to have assaulted Lux with a glass during a fight at a Chinese nightclub last year, one the weekend of the Chinese Grand Prix. Reports said that Lux suffered injuries to the neck which required stitches.

Sutil has always claimed that he did not intend to hurt Lux, and there are no details forthcoming as to what caused the incident. There has been speculation that Lux influence has led to the German being out of a drive in F1 for 2012.

Lux, meanwhile, has stated that he demanded a face to face apology, which he never got. The decision will certainly have a bearing on Sutils future in F1, and it remains to be seen how it affects his standing in the sport.
