Jerez test kicks off
New Williams FW34

As Williams joined the list of teams who have unveiled their new cars this week, the new FW34 – complete with Renault power – was presented in the pit lane at Jerez – so the first test of the 2012 season gets underway.

All the teams, bar Marussia, are scheduled to be present with Mercedes and HRT running 2011 cars this time out.

Rumours are rife that there will be a number of legality concerns, with McLaren being singled out by many commentators, given the somewhat radical front end treatment of the new cars, with the suggestion that Charlie Whiting will be making his presence known at the test.

This makes little sense as a car can, in fact, test in any configuration as long as it has passed the crash tests, and all have done so.
