
Former Formula One driver Alex Zanardi today won a Paralympic gold medal in the hand cycling at Brands Hatch
He won the 16 kilometer race in a time 24m50.22s to finish fourteen seconds clear of Germanys Norbert Mosandl who won silver and Americas Oscar Sanchez who took Bronze.
Zanardi began hand cycling in 2009 after retiring from racing in the World Touring Car Championship with BMW
He can win another gold on Friday when he competes in the road race.
