- Turkey entered the Formula One world for the first time in 2005 with a purpose built facility located in Istanbul. Like other new additions to the calendar, Istanbul is another facility designed by German architect Herman Tilke.
Unlike other recent Tilke designs � which include Sakhir and Shanghai � Istanbul boasts a promising mix of tight and flowing corners. Adding further interest is a mixture of gradients which should make the new track one of the more challenging of the season.
Drivers are already impressed, with the construction plans leaving many predicting an interesting race ahead of their first visit.
